Ramadan
During social distancing
This is typically a time where families and friends gather to experience this month together. If you're social distancing along or without your family, it can be hard to spend this month without the community it usually comes with. Here are some ideas to stay connected.
Host a Virtual Iftar

Iftar (or the fast-breaking meal) for many people is a community event, or at least done with family. If you're living alone or are away from your family, try finding new ways to make the time special and stay connected with others.

Try Facetiming/Whatsapping family or friends when you break fast. If you are in different time zones, do it a few times for each person! (Just don't put your food in the video if other people on the call are still fasting!) It can be for just the few minutes it takes to catch up and take a sip of water and eat a date, or it can be as long as you want.

Do a virtual Iftar party. There's zoom everything right now - why not zoom Iftar? It can be a standing quick 10 minute call with whoever is special to you that happens daily, or it can be a one-time thing that you dress up for, set a background up for, etc. Have it be only food or Do whatever feels right! Here are some ideas to get started.

Use the Harvard SocializeRemotely website. If you want to connect to other students, faculty or staff at Harvard, try making your Iftar event open to the Harvard community!

Virtual programming/Community
There are a ton of resources out there to help you feel connected to the larger community during this time. Here are a few!
